Calypso / Afro-Caribbean Rhythm from Toronto (Canada)

KOBO TOWN brings the spirit of Caribbean street music to modern stages. The band, led by singer Drew Gonsalves, combines classic Trinidadian Calypso with folk, dub, reggae, and poetic storytelling to create a unique sound that balances danceability with social commentary. Live, five to seven musicians usually take the stage – with acoustic guitar, percussion, brass, and deeply grooving rhythms that immediately evoke wanderlust. Their songs tell tales of migration, politics, everyday life, and resistance, without ever losing their lightheartedness. International media have already described KOBO TOWN as one of the most exciting modern Calypso bands worldwide. Their concerts, in particular, thrive on the warm atmosphere and the constant shift between relaxed grooves and euphoric dance energy. Music like a nocturnal stroll through Port of Spain.

DATSCHENKONZERTE

is an open-air concert series that has been taking place at the DATSCHE since 2015. Booking is handled by: MUSIKKOMBINAT, the FETTE BEUTE crew, SWING39, and PETRICHOR BOOKING. They invite regional, national, and international bands and solo acts from various genres such as Pop, Indie, HipHop, Electronica, Soul, Latin, Rock, and many more. Shows usually take place on Fridays from around 8 PM.

Notable acts have performed, such as Clueso, Parcels, Trettmann, Erobique, Rikas, Guacáyo, JPattersson, Carla Ahad, Karmic, Sophia Kennedy, Sean Koch, Ankathie Koi, Say Yes Dog, Acht eimer Hühnerherzen, Dekker, Pool, Tijuana Cartel, SkaZka Orchestra, Äl Jawala, Paulinko, and many more.
