TOOLBOX ORCHESTRA
Wild Instruments Hot Jazz from Berlin
The TOOLBOX ORCHESTRA is less a classical band and more a musical experimental laboratory. The collective combines brass, free jazz, punk, performance, and anarchic street noise into a sound that lies somewhere between a protest march, a circus, and sound art. Often, more than ten musicians are on stage simultaneously – with brass instruments, drums, megaphones, self-made instruments, and anything that can produce sound. Their concerts appear chaotic and precise at the same time: improvised, loud, surprising, and full of interaction with the audience. Instead of a clear separation between stage and audience, spontaneous processions, sing-alongs, or rhythmic escalations often emerge in the middle of the room. The TOOLBOX ORCHESTRA understands music as both a collective experience and a form of political expression. If you like concerts that defy all expectations, this is the place for you.
